Today I am here with South Indian style Prawn Fry recipe. My daughter loves prawns so much and she has been demanding for it for a really long time. Finally, this weekend could get prawns and I prepared this super easy and tasty prawn fry and she loved it. With Prawns, cleaning them properly is most important. I made a video of how to clean the prawns. This can be had with biryani, mild pulao or as side dish for rice and gravy.

Prawn Fry Recipe
This is a easy to make South Indian Style Prawn Fry Recipe.

Ingredients :
- Prawns : About 1 lb
- Onion : 1 no.
- Green Chillies : 2 nos.
- Curry Leaves : 1 Sprig
- Oil : 1 Tablespoon
- Fennel Seeds : 1/2 Teaspoon
- Red Chilli Powder: 1/2 Teaspoon
- Coriander Powder : 2 Teaspoons
- Turmeric Powder : 1/2 Teaspoon
- Salt : As needed
- Cilantro : To garnish
- Lemon Juice : 2 Tablespoons (optional)
To grind into fine paste :
- Onion : 1 medium sized
- Garlic : 5 cloves
- Ginger : About 1" long
- Fennel Seeds : 1/2 Teaspoon
- Cloves : 4 nos.
- Cinnamon : 1 small piece
- Cardamom : 4 nos.
Instructions :
- Clean, de-vein and wash prawns and keep them aside.
- Take all the ingredients listed under 'to grind' and grind them into fine paste and keep it ready.
- Slice onions, slit green chillies and keep them ready.
- In a pan, heat oil and add fennel seeds and fry for a minute, then add sliced onions, green chillies and curry leaves and fry till onions turn translucent.
- Then add ground masala paste, turmeric powder, coriander powder, chilli powder and add about 1/4 cup of water, mix well and cook till the raw smell is gone.
- Now add the cleaned prawns, required salt and cover and cook in low flame till it is done.
- Turn off the heat, squeeze some lemon juice, garnish with cilantro and serve it warm.
Notes :
- Adjust chilli powder as per personal heat tolerance level.
- Prawns get cooked quickly. So keep an eye. Overcooking makes it tough.
