Basic vanilla cake

This is  my first post in the blog. Whats it gonna be about?? There is so much going on in my head right now.  Sentimentally, wanted to start with something sweet.
So, i took my recipe book, the first recipe was a  Simple vanila cake. I thought ,why not??  So am here with it.
This is the first ever cake i baked. The response was so good that i started baking a lot more.

Ingredients:
Sugar           - 1 cup
Butter          - 1/2 cup
Eggs            - 2 nos
Vanilla Extract - 1 teaspoon
Flour  - 1 1/2 cups
Baking powder   - 1 1/2 teaspoon
Milk  - 1/2 cup

Directions:
1.Preheat the oven to 350 F.Grease the cake pan with butter and dust it with flour.
2.in a medium bowl cream together sugar and butter. Beat the eggs one at a time and stir in the vanilla extract. Then combine the flour and baking powder into the mixture and mix well. Finally add milk and stir well until the cake batter is smooth.

3.Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake it for 30-35 minutes till the tooth pick or fork inserted in the centre comes out clean.
4.Cool the cake. Slice and serve as desired.

Its a great tea time snack.
Note:
1. I used all purpose flour, cake flour can be used too.
2. I used warm milk, it yields soft cake.
3.Though the recipe calls for 1 cup of sugar i used only 3/4 cup, because hubby prefers less sweet. So based on personal preference can adjust the sugar.

  2. Nice One Divya, pretty good start. I felt like having a bite of the cake, looks so yummy.

I'm so happy that you love cooking and don't consider it to be a burden. Have heard from many that preparing tasty food is extremely simple and easy, only thing is you should enjoy doing it. GCP has added some good weight after wedding, now I know why :)

I have some thoughts on the finer details, I'll keep you posted off-line.

    1. Am sorry, I couldn't understand your question. Is the cake still not cooked or about the taste? This recipe is for convection oven. What temperature did you bake? Did you add vanilla extract? What kind of baking pan you used? Based on the baking pan and size of the oven, baking time usually varies. If you feel the cake is not done, cover it with silver foil, reduce the temperature to 325 F and bake for 5 minutes..
      Hope this helps. :D
